Greater Ann Arbor Region Retains Growth Services Group

ANN ARBOR, MICH. – JUNE 3, 2015 The Greater Ann Arbor Region partners recently retained Growth Services Group, a national labor market research consulting firm, to administer a local household survey via telephone and internet. The survey will identify the available labor force in the region by type, education, experience, skills, costs, and under what conditions an individual would be available for employment.

Growth Services Group’s research will quantify the labor availability so that businesses that are located in the region, or are considering moving here, can have a clear view of the region’s talent assets.

“We know that talent is the main reason why businesses choose one location over another when considering expansion or relocation,” said Paul Krutko, president of Ann Arbor SPARK. “Gaining a better understanding of this region’s deep talent pool furthers our combined economic development efforts, and helps the Greater Ann Arbor Region partners more effectively market to growing companies.”

The primary goal of the survey research is to discover the current and desired work opportunities for those who are ages 18-64 in the region. The respondent’s comments will be confidential and only reported in the aggregate or grand totals of the regional survey.

Monroe County Business Development Corporation’s vice president, Charlene Page, explained the importance of the research, saying, “The results from the survey will assist site selectors as they evaluate the area’s human resource assets for available skills. In addition, the data will provide valuable information for service providers to match employer needs and available workforce.”
